A couple weeks ago, a mentor of mine gave me the opportunity
to meet Susan L. Taylor, Editor and Chief Emeritus of
Essence Magazine. Listening to her inspiring words and passion for helping
today's youth was breath taking. She even gave me one on one advice
about how I can prosper in my future goals. It was an event to totally remember.
Besides meeting Mrs. Taylor, my bestie Aisha and I watched these
beautiful children play their hearts out on the drums. It was pretty refreshing
to see young African American children from Newark, New Jersey show
their passion for an art, and do it so well. One girl told me I looked pretty,
I told her 'Thank you sweet heart, but you look gorgeous yourself!"
